Automation Division

The automation division consists of a team with multidisciplinary expertise ranging from electro-instrumental proficiency, IT, process control, data supervision and analysis, characterized by many years of international experience with a wide range of market technologies and in multiple application contexts.

Expertise

The specialized automation division is structured to be able to meet the most advanced needs for horizontal and vertical development and integration of automation solutions, with a particular focus on:

  • Advanced PLC and DCS programming;
  • Development of architectures / services / applications via network / Internet / web (client / server structures);
  • Development of local and distributed field bus architectures;
  • SQL database for logging, analyzing, processing, exporting and reporting data;
  • Integration of mobile and cloud solutions;
  • Standardization of integration protocols (eg OPC);
  • Integration with MES / ERP systems;
  • IT skills and advanced networking;
  • Software programming for standard, web and SCADA applications;
  • IT and network security;
  • High availability and fault-tolerant systems (system redundancy / process control / supervision).

Engineering

The activities of the automation team cover the entire life cycle of development of automation solutions in compliance with the international guidelines of the sector (GAMP 5) relative to the documentation and the design, development and testing of software for PLC, SCADA , HMI and DCS:

  • Feasibility study;
  • Analysis of User Requirement Specifications (URS);
  • Architectural design – Development of Detailed Specifications (DS);
  • Functional design - Development of Functional Specifications (FS);
  • Development phase;
  • Factory Acceptance Test & Site Acceptance Test;
  • Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ);
  • Commissioning & Start-up.

Regulations

Process control (PLC and DCS) and supervision (HMI, SCADA and DCS) applications are developed according to standardized software engineering principles (SWEBOK), with rapid prototyping systems and standardizing engineering criteria for structures, terminologies and models, to international industry standards:

  • ISA 18.2 – Alarm Management Standard;
  • ISA 88.01 – Batch Control Part 1: Models and Terminology;
  • ISA 88.02 – Batch Control Part 2: Data Structures and Guidelines for Languages;
  • ISA 88.03 – Batch Control Part 3: General and Site Recipe Models and Representation;
  • ISA 88.04 – Batch Control Part 4: Batch Production Records;
  • ISA 106 – Procedure Automation for Continuous Process Operations - Models and Terminology;
  • ISA 101 – Human Machine Interfaces for Process Automation Systems;
  • FDA 21 CFR Part 11 for the use of electronic documents for regulatory purposes in place of paper documentation (Computer Systems Validation for the pharmaceutical sector).
